Most hospitals use medical records software now

Once upon a time, when you were admitted to the hospital, a nurse would come into your room, and rather than tell you a story, she would ask for your life story. She would want to know everything there was to know about you medical history and the medical history of all of your immediate family members. She reported this information to the doctor in charge. He would use this information to order tests, make a diagnosis, and treat your condition. When the nurses administered medications, they would have to write it in your chart. Today, things are done much differently. Although you are still asked about your medical history and given medications, the way that the nurses record this information is very different. Most hospitals use medical records software now.

When you are taken to a room, a nurse will come in to ask you several questions. She doesn’t write any of this information down with paper and a pen. She types it into the computer. You no longer have an actual file folder full of information. Now, you have a virtual file on the computer.

Many doctors’ offices and clinics are now using medical records software as well. As technology advances, advances in medicine are made too. Surgeries are performed differently than they were just a few years ago. Tests are conducted differently as well. Every effort is made to save money and spare the patient some pain. The way that medical records are kept has also changed due to technology. Computers make a lot of things easier, and they are used in the medical field everyday.

At first, hospital personnel and patients alike were concerned about using computers and medical records software to maintain patient files. Doctors and nurses worried that the records would get lost. Patients worried that their information would be accessed by hackers. However, time has shown that this method is much simpler, and patient files have been safe from harm for years now. They haven’t been lost or stolen. Now, everyone can live happily ever after, knowing that the records are safe and easily accessible when needed.
